Despite being closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the staff at Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo continues to work tirelessly to provide vital care for our residents. Our staff and animals miss you! And they wanted to share some of the exciting things that have been happening at the Zoo while we have been closed.

Easter Enrichment

Our keepers have been getting really creative with enrichment for our animals to keep them busy and engaged while we are closed. They went all-out with Easter-themed enrichment for everyone at the park.

Our otters got an Easter basket filled with yummy treats. Our fennec foxes, coatis, and small primates all got Easter eggs filled with mealworms. Even some of our reptiles got in on the fun! Our bearded dragons had a blast tunneling through dozens of plastic easter eggs.

Corvids > Covid

The corvid family is a group of birds that include crows, ravens, and over 120 other birds. Here at Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo, we house white-necked ravens. These birds are some of the most intelligent birds on the planet! Our ravens, Sam and Poe, both have an expansive vocabulary, and are even able to mimic the sounds of other animals that live here at the Zoo. Since we’ve been closed and they haven’t had the public chatting with them throughout the day, Poe and Sam have been much more talkative with our keepers and staff. Many of our parrots have been talking to us a lot more as well!

Everyday is Hump Day!

With our paths being free of guests, our camels have enjoyed going on walks around the park. Not only have Katerina and Kahla enjoyed checking out other residents of the Zoo, but some of our other animals (namely, the lions) have also really enjoyed seeing our juvenile camels walking around as well. The daily walks a nice treat for the camels, and they also help our keepers work with these animals to train them to do certain behaviors that will make routine veterinary check ups and procedures much easier.
