Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo recently welcomed two capybara babies born to Kiwi and Enzo!
Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo has some exciting news to share from New Braunfels: two capybara babies were born on April 29, 2026, to parents Kiwi and Enzo.
The babies are currently growing alongside their parents, giving our animal care team a special opportunity to watch them develop, stay close to their family group, and begin exploring their surroundings at their own pace.
Capybaras are known for their calm personalities, strong social bonds, and semi-aquatic lifestyle. As the world’s largest rodents, these fascinating animals are native to South America and are often found near rivers, marshes, wetlands, and other water-rich habitats. Their bodies are well adapted for life around water, with eyes, ears, and nostrils positioned near the tops of their heads to help them stay aware while swimming or resting near the water.
Growing Up With Kiwi and Enzo
For young capybaras, staying close to family is an important part of early development. Capybaras are social animals, and young capybaras often learn by spending time near the adults in their group.
At Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo, Kiwi and Enzo’s babies are being closely monitored by our zoo team as they continue to grow. Their care, comfort, and development remain the top priority.
“Watching these two grow alongside Kiwi and Enzo has been a special experience for our team,” said Jarrod Forthman, Deputy Director. “Capybaras are incredibly social animals, and this is a great opportunity for guests to learn more about how young animals develop confidence by staying close to their family group.”
